Arrive in Dublin and a relatively short coach journey across Ireland to Sligo, Yeats’s "Land of Hearts Desire," with a stop on the way at the Drumshanbo Distillery of Gunpowder Gin.
Accommodations in the heart of Sligo town, easy walk to some of Ireland’s most iconic pubs.
Today you will be challenged and enthralled by the County Sligo Golf Course at Rosses Point. Described as “The Wild Atlantic Links,” Rosses Point is “a course carved by earth, winds and water, and is a true championship test of golf.” It is one of Golf Digest’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses, and is one of the most scenic courses in Ireland with spectacular views of five counties on a clear day. Hosting the "West of Ireland Championship", Rosses Point became the launching pad for Padraic Harrington, Rory MciIroy, and Shane Lowry. Playing Rosses Point is an unforgettable experience and the perfect introduction to Irish links play.
For your second round, we will be going just across Sligo Bay to the seaside and surfing mecca of Strandhill whose golf course boasts the backdrop of the sea and Knocknarea Mountain with Queen Maeve’s Cairn atop. The course has been described as "the epitome of golf along the Wild Atlantic Way".
After your round, consider relaxing in a seaweed bath or a round of drinks at the classic Strand Bar.
Leaving Sligo, we head north into Donegal, where "Up Here, It’s Different." You will be staying the night outside of Donegal town and playing the Donegal Golf Course at Murvagh. Surrounded by the Atlantic and Donegal Bay, it is one of the longest golf courses in Europe, yet an easy walk and welcome break from the roller coaster dunes found on other links courses. The course is consistently listed in the upper 20% of the top 100 courses in Ireland and Britain.
Today we drive further north into Donegal to the spectacular Inishowen Peninsula and the resort hotel of Redcastle, on the shore of Lough Foyle. After check-in, you can compete in the Unique Irish Tours Invitational at Redcastle's charming nine-hole course beside the Foyle. Bragging rights may be celebrated in the hotel’s dining room that night.
Situated on the northern most tip of Ireland, Ballyliffin, a Pat Ruddy course, is a must for any experienced golfer, having hosted the European Tour and the Irish Open. Rory McIlroy has said that Ballyliffin is a "must play on any golf trip to Ireland".
Following your round, enjoy some of Donegal and Ireland most spectacular scenery.
We head south toward Dublin for a final night 30-minutes from Dublin airport but a world away in a grand country hotel in County Kildare, Killishee House. We should have time for nine holes at the Montgomerie inland links course at Carton House, a three-times venue for the Irish Open.
The evening feature a gala farewell dinner.
